Ville Morgue seethes with aggression through its 45 minutes of existence, holding the listener's attention through the hypnotic droning rhythm that slithers through each song from beginning to end. It's the ability to maintain that infectious rhythm while everything is inundated with sludge and distortion that presents the genius of Carne. Considering how easy it would be for this album to devolve into just noise — a trend far too popular in this genre — Carne navigates well, ensuring that song structure comes first. For a debut record, Ville Morgue leaves quite the impression; the band has achieved more in this debut than many of its peers have in two or three records.
