With Canada soon turning 150 years old, Parliament Hill is set to party extra hard this New Year's Eve with a ton of fireworks and our very own Carly Rae Jepsen.
On December 31, Carly Rae will headline the a Peace Tower carillon concert, the Department of Heritage announced today (November 28), with festivities starting at 7 p.m. local time. Following a ceremony, a "pyro-musical display" will kick off simultaneously at 8:17 p.m. from Parliament Hill, the Alexandra Bridge and Nepean Point, revisiting "different historical eras of our country over the past 150 years."
Acadian hip-hop crew Radio Radio will then play at 9 p.m. and Alberta singer-songwriter Brett Kissel will follow at 10 p.m. Carly Rae will then close the night, with a New Year's countdown closing things down with another, more traditional fireworks display.
Of course this will hardly be the only big NYE party going down this year; as previously reported, the Sheepdogs, New Pornographers, Wintersleep, Yukon Blonde, Humans and more will play a big event in Vancouver. You can learn more about it here.
