Adele's 25 took home the prize for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12), a victory that surprised the vocalist herself considering she was up against Beyoncé's Lemonade. Now, Carlos Santana has offered his two cents on the evening's events, chalking Adele's victory up to her talent.
"I think that Adele won because she can sing, sing," Santana told Australian Associated Press. "With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it's more like modelling kind of music — music to model a dress — she's not a singer, singer, with all respect to her."
Santana, who has 13 Grammys to his name, added that Adele "doesn't bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that's it, and this is why she wins."

In her acceptance speech, Adele said, "I can't possibly accept this award… my artist of my life is Beyoncé, and this album for me — the Lemonade album — is so monumental, and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-bearing, and we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see, and we appreciate it, all us artists here, we fucking adore you. You are our light."
The decision was viewed by many as yet another oversight by the awards show, which many artists recently took to task on grounds of cultural bias and racism.
