Caribou and Born Ruffians Tag Team Canada For Fall Tour

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jun 29, 2007

To promote his forthcoming album, Andorra (out August 21 on Merge), Caribou has announced a world tour that includes an impressive journey across the Great White North. Supporting him will be Born Ruffians. We here at Exclaim! like to think of it as an Unofficial "Importing Our Own" Tour, named after our July issue's research story - considering both acts were part of it - but deep down inside we know that isn't true. It's still exciting anyway.

Here are the dates:

9.28 Hamilton, ON - The Casbah
9.29 Waterloo, ON - Starlight Lounge
10.02 Ottawa, ON - Babylon
10.03 Montreal, QC - La Tulipe
10.30 Vancouver, BC - Richard's on Richards
10.31 Victoria, BC - Sugar
11.02 Edmonton, AB - The Starlite Room
11.03 Calgary, AB - The Warehouse
11.04 Saskatoon, SK - Amigos
11.05 Winnipeg, MB - The Collective Cabaret

In other news, Born Ruffians have announced details of their forthcoming debut album. On their website bassist Mitch DeRosier wrote:

"We just recently finished recording our full-length album here in Toronto (release date TBD), and it's in the final stages of mixing. Rusty Santos (Animal Collective) produced the record, and lived in our house for the few weeks we took to record. And while it was previously mentioned that we were doing it in Nashville, we couldn't be happier that we were able to do it with Rusty and sleep in our own beds and show him the CN Tower and read comics and also play music too... I think we got around to that... right?"

Before they join Caribou, the Ruffians will make a few festival appearances starting with Capital Idea! Fest in Ottawa this Friday (the 29th) at Zaphod Beeblebrox. From there they will hit Hillside in Guelph on July 27, and then Wolfe Island Music Fest in Kingston on August 11.
