Caribou, Besnard Lakes, Crystal Castles Among Nominees for 2010 ECHO Songwriting Prize
While the Polaris Music Prize celebrates the year's best albums, SOCAN's ECHO Songwriting Prize takes a different approach by honouring the top song. This year, the award is back for its fifth instalment, and SOCAN has revealed the list of contenders.

This songs in the running for this year's ECHO Songwriting Prize are, in alphabetical order:

The Besnard Lakes - "Albatross"
Brasstronaut - "Hearts Trompet"
Caribou - "Odessa"
Crystal Castles - "Celestica"
Young Galaxy - "Destroyer"

The nominees were chosen by SOCAN's panel of experts. The winner is chosen by an open online vote, and the winner pockets a cool $5,000. Last year, D-Sisive took home top honours for "Nobody with a Notepad." Other past winners include the Weakerthans, Abdominal and Propagandhi.
