Cardi B Relates to Eleanor Roosevelt and Knows Aliens Aren't Real

The rapper and history buff finally made it to the 'Hot Ones' table

Cardi B is a well-documented history and politics buff, and she used her recent appearance on much-loved interview show Hot Ones (which she says her fans have been begging her to be on) to dig into her love of FDR and how she relates to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Oh, and she doesn't believe aliens are real — knows they aren't, in fact.

Cardi's love of the Roosevelts runs deep — back in 2018, she talked about FDR in a GQ feature, saying, "He helped us get over the Depression, all while he was in a wheelchair. Like, this man was suffering from polio at the time of his presidency, and yet all he was worried about was trying to make America great — make America great again for real. He's the real 'Make America Great Again,' because if it wasn't for him, old people wouldn't even get Social Security."

On Hot Ones, Cardi talks Roosevelt and his wife again, getting a touch emotional and very animated as she recalls the time she visited FDR's former home and "saw the room where Churchill and FDR was talking about the nuke. That is crazy to me!"

She also tells host Sean Evans how she relates to Eleanor Roosevelt and her need to have a space of her own (Virginia Woolf would be proud), saying, "As I grew up reading about Eleanor Roosevelt, she had a very sad life. When I went to her house, she had a different house from her husband. FDR's mama, she was always around, and she didn't really like that. Eleanor wanted to have space, just like me; I want my own space all the time."

Perhaps equally important, Cardi also talks about her certainty that aliens aren't real — referencing The Art of War in her explanation that if aliens are as advanced as we think they are, they would've invaded and dominated us years ago. Fair point!

You can watch the whole interview below, wherein Cardi says she's "setting [herself] up for diarrhea," among many, many other things.
