Capture The Flag

Starting From Scratch

BY Stuart GreenPublished Oct 1, 2003

In the finest tradition of such great power trios as Pop Sickle, Moving Targets and Arcwelder, Detroit's Capture the Flag take three-chord post-hardcore melodic punk and distil it down to its most fundamental elements, take a huge swig of the brew and piss it back out with raw emotion and angst. The band's third disc keeps with their practice of delivering concise and blistering anthems filled with plenty of guitar noodling, relentless rhythmic drive and harmonies that immediately conjure images of the earliest incarnations of pop punk such as Descendents, Dag Nasty and even the Police.
