And it comes with an actual trout mask

Not long removed from taking his brand of rock'n'roll to strange new places with Boarding House Reach, Jack White has announced plans to reissue an experimental rock classic.

Third Man Records' latest edition of its Vault subscription series will bring Captain Beefheart's 1969 LP Trout Mask Replica back to vinyl for the first time in nearly a decade.

Sourced from original masters as part of a partnership with the Zappa Family Trust, the reissue features audio remastered by Bob Ludwig and cut to vinyl by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. The album's artwork was also reproduced from Cal Schenkel original cover photo at proper resolution.

The album will arrive as a 180-gram 2-LP set on "fish scale" coloured vinyl. The Vault package is also set to include the first 7-inch reissue of the album's single "Pacucho Cadaver," a patch, a tote bag and Jack White's epitaph for Beefheart that was originally published upon the artist's death in 2011. What's more, it also includes an actual cardboard trout mask.
