Blue

BY Keith CarmanPublished Nov 19, 2008

It's hard to believe such a stunning, frenzied cacophony like Blue could be created by only three individuals. An obstinate blast of chaotic distortion fuelled by agitation, these ten tracks confound and amaze at the same time. Bringing together the Kittens' metre-heavy attack and rabid vocals with slightly more intricate writing akin to Converge and even - excuse the negative connotation - post-punk, yet ramping it up with the odd static-infused rumbling rant, Blue becomes an overwhelming collection of extreme music's most arresting characteristics. More impressive though, is the band's ability to continually shock the listener with songs ranging from 50 seconds of heated aggression to almost ten minutes of apocalyptic noise. With its variety, passion and fury, Blue is commanding.
