Published Apr 08, 2009Toronto's slick electro pop crew the Cansecos are set to hit the road for select dates during the end of May. Of course, knowing just how much members Gareth Jones and Bill Halliday like to throw a party filled with half-naked, sweat-drenched bodies, it only makes sense that they'll be accompanied by Edmonton's multi-headed dance monsters Shout Out Out Out Out.
Beginning April 25 in Toronto, the tour will take the two bands across Southern Ontario, ending their joint jaunt in Montreal on April 30. In the words of the Cansecos themselves, people can expect "a double bill that will have Canada's finest electro outfits locked in bass-drenched battles on dance floors from London to Montreal." Sounds sexy.
There's a reason for the Cansecos to celebrate. The duo's "Raised By Wolves," taken from 2007's Juices!, has been nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Song of 2008 in the International Songwriting Competition. The winner will be decided at the end of April, most likely while they're crossing the Ontario/Quebec border.
To get folks ready for their upcoming shows, Jones and Halliday have cooked up a sweet mix of beloved disco tunes called Showers, which is free to download here. And in case you didn't know, these guys definitely know their disco, and how to make their music disco. As we previously reported, in preparation for the release of Juices!, the Cansecos remixed their own album, disco-style, for a free album called Juiced!, which you can still download here.
