Published Jan 30, 2009There's a lot going on in death/gore metal gurus Cannibal Corpse's camp as of late. To start, those of you who thought Canada's most extreme element was its weather can suck on this: in a musical climate where major labels are recycling toilet paper to cut costs, the Corpse's debut DVD Centuries Of Torment has just reached platinum sales status. That's 100,000 copies. Pretty extreme, folks.
Released last July, Centuries Of Torment celebrates 20 years of Cannibal Corpse's chaotic, guttural music through interviews, live footage, retrospectives and more. It immediately reached certified gold status (50,000 units) and in a few short months has quickly burned its way up to the platinum rating.
This, of course, generates more anticipation for the band's forthcoming 11th studio effort, Evisceration Plague, set to be released as a double-disc (CD/DVD) digipak with full-colour booklet through the band's long-time label Metal Blade Records on February 3. To honour the release, MySpace Canada will host an advance album stream kicking off today (January 30). Visit the music pageto hear tracks "Scalding Hail" and "Carnivorous Swarm," the latter available as a special treat to Canadian fans only.
Naturally, all of this leads up to the fact that with their DVD flying off shelves and a new album to hock, Cannibal Corpse will be hitting the Great White North for a full tour this spring with special guests Faceless, Obscura and Neuraxis. See below for dates:
