As always, the annual Canadian Music Week will be coming to Toronto in March. This will include the Slacker Canadian Music Fest, which will bring a massive assortment of acts from Canada and around the world to over 60 venues around the city from March 20 to 25.
Among the many highlights of the six-day event are John K. Samson & the Provincial Band, Childish Gambino, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, the Trews, Saul Williams, Fanfarlo, Two Hours Traffic, Brasstronaut, Hot Panda, Louise Burns, Cadence Weapon, Elephant Stone, Saidah Baba Talibah, the Elwins, Sun Wizard, and We Are the City. And more acts are still to be announced.
In addition to concerts, CMW will include 12th annual Independent Music Awards, also known as the Indies. This event, taking place on March 24 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, will include what a press release promises is "a special reunion by one of Canada's most influential pop punk bands and a rare performance by one of America's beloved electro-pop bands." Consider us intrigued.
In addition to homegrown talent, Canadian Music Week will highlight a slew acts from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Other festivities include film screenings, the launch of the Canadian Comedy Fest, conferences and a trade exposition. In other words, if you love music, you're going to want to be in Toronto this March.
