While the ongoing pandemic may have sidelined the live music world for the foreseeable future, Canadian concert promoters MRG LIVE are actually expanding their operations, announcing today that they are setting up shop in the southeastern United States.

The newly unveiled MRG LIVE Southeast will be headed up by Eric Fuller, who joins with "decades of experience in venue operations and event promotion," according to a press release. His duties will include developing "new venue opportunities and [expanding MRG's] live event and show promotions in Florida and the Southeast USA region stationed in Miami, Florida."

Fuller's hire follows March's announcement from the parent MRG Group that Jacob Smid had been named managing director of MRG LIVE, to "lead the company's expansion into global markets including the United States."

"Although the industry has been impacted in an unprecedented way due to this pandemic, we believe that this is a great opportunity to partner with like-minded partners and develop longer-term business opportunities together," Smid said in a statement today. "Our partnership with Eric reflects this approach and we look forward to growing our footprint even more in the U.S. and beyond."

Fuller added, "[President Matt Gibbons] and the MRG Live team have built a wonderful business in Canada, and with their recent hiring of Jacob Smid as Managing Director... I'm beyond excited about the potential that awaits us."
