Crime Pays

BY Mark BozzerPublished May 24, 2009

Whether he's showing love to the Midwest ("Get It In Ohio"), bitching about the recession ("My Job") or threatening to take a dump in his girl's car on one of his many head-scratching skits, your favourite Dipset member (Jimmy's too much of a hipster now) is back with a vengeance on his sixth full-length. Cam fell off the map after 2006's ill-received Killa Season, which left Dipset fans with nothing but Jim Jones's new affinity for club bullshit and Juelz Santana's weak side-project, Skull Gang. Thankfully, Harlem's most eccentric MC is back, spitting his trademark wacko raps and riding shotgun over standard Dipset productions provided mainly by Araab Muzik and Skitzo. Gone are the head to toe purple outfits (Killa no longer claims to be more purple than Barney) and unfortunately, the Kanye and Just Blaze beats. However, the time out of the spotlight has served Cam well, as he returns to the rap game with a renewed sense of urgency and a release that provides dope beats, fresh lyrics and humorous narratives. If Crime Paysthis well then get ready to trade in your suit and tie for some black gloves and a ski mask.
