Camera Obscura Return with 'Desire Lines' Album, Get Neko Case and Jim James to Guest
Scottish twee-pop crew Camera Obscura haven't delivered an LP since 2009's My Maudlin Career, but the act have formally announced their return with a new album titled Desire Lines. The group's fifth full-length arrives in North America June 4 via 4AD, and a day earlier in the UK.

A press release explains that Camera Obscura started recording the set last December in Portland with producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs), with sessions wrapping up last month. While the band said that they enjoyed the experience, they admitted that the lengthy gap between LPs added some extra pressure to the proceedings.

"Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write, partly because of the situation we found ourselves in with having to take such a long and uncertain amount of time out, but also because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please," band member Tracyanne Campbell said in a statement.

While a tracklisting has yet to be revealed, Desire Lines features guest performances from Neko Case and My Morning Jacket's Jim James.

Camera Obscura have tour dates booked on both sides of the pond, with a gig set for at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on June 23 and upcoming Canadian festival performances set up for Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa this July. As previously reported, some of those summer dates also team the band with She & Him.
