Cam Penner Tours Western Canada in Support of 'To Build a Fire'

We can't think of too many well-known songwriters who hail from the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, but that area is now home to the formerly Calgary-based Cam Penner. He will be hitting the road this spring in support of his latest full-length, To Build a Fire, which came out last week.

The outing launches on May 16 in Lloydminster, SK. From there, Penner will play a string of shows in Canada's three westernmost provinces before wrapping up with two shows in Calgary on June 1 and 2. See the schedule below.

Along the way, Penner will be promoting To Build a Fire. A press release enigmatically describes the album like this: "The lush beauty of the opening brass track lures you in but leaves you wondering what is to come...then it begins. Ukuleles, guitars, banjos strummed. Floorboards stomped. Kick drums kicked. Feet stumbled. Thighs, knees, hands slapped and clapped. Voices strained and bent. Fingers gripped, grabbed and picked. Arms and hands flung. Body and sound thrown against wood and metal. Breathing fire into every note and lyric."
