Céline Dion Is Apparently Becoming a Big Fan of the Cure

She's also shared the new songs "Lying Down," "Courage" and "Imperfections"

Céline Dion was recently introduced to the Cure, and she seems to like what she heard.

The Quebec-born global superstar is about to kick off her world tour tonight in Quebec City and is in the midst of the pre-run media junket. As part of that push, she's shared not one but three new songs today from her upcoming album Courage — its title track, "Lying Down" and "Imperfections."

Sitting down with Brendan Kelly of the Montreal Gazette, the singer noted that her interviewer was wearing a hoodie that said "It's Friday I'm in love," telling him: "You're a guy who's ahead of your time. You're pro-active. You're ahead."

He explained that it was from the Cure's 1992 song "Friday I'm in Love," and when Dion told him she didn't know it, she asked him to sing a bit to her.

Apparently, Dion then began ad-libbing her own verses, singing (to a tune of her own):

It's Sunday, I forgot about love. I went to church. I changed my mind. I don't know where I go. I don't know where it's been. But it's Friday and I'm in love today. I should ask on Tuesday if I have something to do, if I have something to say.

After the camera stopped rolling on their interview, Kelly said a member of Dion's team played the Cure song on their phone. After hearing the song for the first time, she claimed that it reminded her of former Harmonium frontman Serge Fiori.

It's a bizarre scenario that could only happen with Céline Dion. Watch the formal part of the interview here via the Gazette.

As for Courage, the album is due out on November 15 via Columbia Records. Following the previously shared "Flying on My Own," she's now given us "Lying Down," "Courage" and "Imperfections," all of which you can hear below. According to a press release, each represents "an exciting new creative direction for Céline."
