Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip

'The Abstract and The Dragon' (mixtape)

Over twenty years after Leaders of the New School's Busta Rhymes and A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip first linked up via the Native Tongues crew, the pair have finally come through with their first-ever full-length collaboration, The Abstract and The Dragon.

Tip and Bus-a-Bus' team-up arrived today (December 12) at the crack of midnight, stacked with 28 tracks of different vintage, flexing the iconic, smoothed-out flow of the former and the out-of-control MC-ing of the latter.

Already, we had heard the jazzy ode to friendship "Butch & Sundance" and the Ye-and-Weezy-assisted "Thank You," and now we have a Charles Bradley-sampling intro followed by the heady, horn-y swirl of Tribe's "God Lives Through" with new bars from Busta, a syrupy, synth-blaring title track and a whole lot more. Also showing up on the set is Talib Kweli, on the late J. Dilla's "Lightworks" beat, Raekwon on Tip's "Renaissance Rap," and the LONS/Tribe connection via the inclusion of classic track "Scenario."

A mix of old and new, you can check out the duo's, ahem, scenario by streaming the set down below or downloading it here.
