Built In Shellbrook This Apparatus Must be Earthed

Hailing from the wind-swept prairie flatlands of Regina and not (as the name would suggest) a GM assembly plant town in Quebec, Built in Shellbrook delivers six thick and creamy tracks on their latest release. With their attitudes in check and guitars drop-tuned, they tread that fine line between metal dirge and straight-ahead pop. The music immediately recalls melodic and rhythmically dynamic groove and chug bands like Tool, Quicksand, Hum, Fugazi and Grade while the melodic vocal lines could have been lifted from a Beatles record. Those elements are common to all six tracks on this extended CD-EP, even though the songs themselves can be short up-tempo rockers like "Mainspring" to multi-dimensional epics like the seven-minute closer, "No Shade."
