Bud Osborn

Hundred Block Rock

BY David LewisPublished Oct 1, 1999

Recorded live on a rooftop in downtown Vancouver, Hundred Rock Block is a raw document of Bud Osborn’s hard-hitting poetry. A militant performer and writer, Osborn relates the tough conditions and oppressive context of one of Canada’s poorest neighbourhoods. He gets searing support from Mecca Normal guitarist David Lester and bass player Wendy Atkinson (who also plays with Barbarash and Hazel Motes). This power trio fuses art-punk and protest poetry into potent, visceral music.
