Brutal Truth

Walking Corpse 2112

BY Denise FalzonPublished Nov 29, 2011

The phrase "good things come in small packages" is especially applicable to the latest EP from grind masters Brutal Truth. Walking Corpse 2112 features the two initially unreleased tracks that were included on the first instalment of Decibel Magazine's Flexi-Disc Series back in 2010. "Walking Corpse 2112," a re-recording of "Walking Corpse," from their 1992 debut record, Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses, and "You Should Know Better" comprise the digital-only release. Following Brutal Truth's latest full-length, 2011's stellar End Time, the EP provides a quick shot of the intense, visceral grindcore the band are known for. Clocking in at just over three minutes, "Walking Corpse 2112" wastes no time kicking up the energy with blistering riffs and a vicious, submerged groove, transitioning effortlessly to the forceful chaos in the more technical "You Should Know Better." The only downside is that Walking Corpse 2112 is over before you can even comprehend what's happening, leaving you wanting more.
