Thanks to Bruce Springsteen's status as a working-class hero, he tends to inspire extremely ardent fandom. Soon, the Boss's influence on his followers will be chronicled in a documentary, and fans are being called upon to contribute their own footage for the film.
This is not simply a fan-made project, since it comes with the Springsteen camp's approval. A post on the songwriter's website confirms that the flick will be called Springsteen & I and it is being spearheaded by Ridley Scott Associates, Black Dog Films and Scott Free London. They are asking fans to show how Springsteen has affected their lives.
Producer Svana Gisla said in a statement, "We are searching for a wide variety of creative interpretations, captured in the most visually exciting way you can think of, whether you've been a hardcore Tramp since '73 or have heard one of his songs for the first time today! If you have a parent, a sibling, a neighbor or a colleague who has an interesting tale, we want to know about them. If you can't use a camera or are not sure how to capture your story then get in touch and we will link you up with someone who can!"
Fans are asked to submit raw footage rather than edited clips, since it will all be edited together to create a feature-length documentary for cinematic release in 2013. The film was inspired by Kevin Macdonald's 2011 documentary Life in a Day, which was comprised of edited-together YouTube clips.
