Toronto's Crow's Theatre is celebrating its 35th season this year, and as part of the milestone year, the theatre company has announced the world premiere of a play authored by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew.

Drew's play, titled A&R Angels, will debut November 20, running until December 9. He will co-star in the production alongside Billy Talent frontman Ben Kowalewicz, along with Ngozi Paul and Maurice Dean Wint. The production was directed by Crow's artistic director Chris Abraham. A press release describes the production as follows:

Straddling our world and the afterlife, two angels have - for decades - pulled folks from the brink of death with their music. But times have changed. The past lives that they've been tasked to save…have ended, well…badly. The A&R Angels have only one shot left before being eternally benched by the higher-ups - can they write that killer song that will give life to the living?

"Failure was sitting in the room with me, and I'd never felt that way artistically before," Drew told the Globe and Mail. "I wrote the play as a way to move on."

A tweet from Broken Social Scene reveals that tickets for A&R Angels will go on sale July 10. Further details on Crow's Theatre's 35th season can be found here.
Broken Social Scene's forthcoming album, Hug of Thunder, is due July 7 on Arts & Crafts. You can pre-order it on vinyl via Umusic.
