Published Sep 08, 2010Bruce McDonald's latest film, Trigger, may not have received a great review here at Exclaim!, but there's a new reason to check it out when it screens at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend: Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning composed the score.
The Playlist points to a page on TIFF's website that credits Canning with the music. McDonald previously worked with Canning on This Movie Is Broken, which centred upon last year's Broken Social Scene concert at Toronto Island.
Trigger is about a reunion between two former bandmates, played by Molly Parker and the departed Tracy Wright. You can watch some clips from the film over at the Playlist, and hear some mellow piano music, presumably composed by Canning.
In other TIFF-related news, Do Make Say Think's Ohad Benchetrit wrote the music for Daydream Nation, a coming-of-age story starring Kat Dennings and directed by Mike Goldbach.
Trigger will screen at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on Sunday, September 12 and at the Scotiabank Theatre on Saturday, September 18. You can watch Daydream Nation on Friday, September 10 at Ryerson and on Saturday, September 11 at the AMC.
