Broken Social Scene

Cover U2, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine (live video)

If Wolf Parade's recent farewell concert taught us anything, it's that bands who are going on long (and possibly permanent) hiatuses are likely to whip out some ridiculous cover tunes just for the occasion.

On Tuesday (November 8), Broken Social Scene performed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for what just might be their last show for a very, very long time. So how did they mark the event? With a set-closing a cappella rendition of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," plus full-band versions of Beastie Boys' "Funky Boss" and Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name."

Watch fan-shot videos of the covers below. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Funky Boss" are in the first one, plus BSS's own "Major Label Debut (Fast)," and "Killing in the Name" is in the second (this one is interpolated with "Ibi Dreams of Pavement [A Better Day]").
