Broken Bottles

Not Pretty

BY Shawn MerrillPublished Oct 1, 2003

Attempting to re-educate the masses about what real Orange County punk rock is all about, Broken Bottles have donned the eyeliner, put on their combat boots, and an ugly sneer. Taking cues from early Social Distortion, TSOL, D.I., and the Adolescents, Broken Bottles are taking a stab at reviving the roots sound that spawned generations of punks to come. They have produced an incredibly retro-sounding punk release that should inspire old punks to come out of the woodwork, and new punks to realise that the Ataris aren’t punk covering Don Henley songs. Fortunately Broken Bottles have reinvented songs about being repulsive, being a problem child, being in porno movies with celebrities, and goth chicks.
