Britney Spears has put the brakes on her upcoming Las Vegas show "Domination" to be with her family and focus on her father's ailing health.

According to a post on her website, Spears is going what's being called "an indefinite work hiatus." The post reads:

Today Britney announced an indefinite work hiatus putting her "Britney: Domination" launch run at Park Theater at the new Park MGM resort in Las Vegas on hold until further notice. Due to her father's recent life-threatening health issues, she has made the decision to devote all of her time to her family and their efforts to care for her father during his recovery.

On social media, Spears herself wrote, "I will not be performing my new show Domination. I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it's important to always put your family first… and that's the decision I had to make."

She went on to reveal that her father was hospitalized a couple of months ago and nearly died. And although "he came out of it alive," Spears noted that he "still has a long road ahead of him."

According to a press release [via The Hollywood Reporter], her father Jamie Spears suffered a spontaneous colon rupture, was rushed into surgery and remained in hospital for 28 days. He is currently recovering at home and is expected to make a full recovery.

"I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time," she added.

"Britney: Domination" was announced back in October, and was expected to kick off at the Park Theater at MGM Grand in February. Fans who had already purchased tickets to the Vegas residency will receive full refunds.

I don't even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it's important to always put your family first… and that's the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We're all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com. I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.
