Bright Eyes, Black Lips, Iron & Wine Design Xmas Ornaments For Charity

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Dec 3, 2008

In the spirit of getting festive, an Oregon-based non-profit organization has designed a batch of indie rock-themed Christmas ornaments to help trees everywhere get a little musical style.

Called Glass Casters Union, the organization has roped in Bright Eyes, Built to Spill, Iron & Wine, Black Lips and the Thermals to all design their own festival decorations these coming holidays. Last year, the organization embarked on the project, with bands such as Wolf Parade, Of Montreal, Deerhunter and Xiu Xiu all onboard.

In 2008, each band's design is etched on glass ornaments and filled with silver or gold, not looking overly Christmas-y but cool nonetheless. All the ornaments are limited edition and, perhaps most importantly, all sales proceeds will all go to help the homeless and low-income families in Eugene, OR.

To get your paws on one of the ornaments, you can bid on them here via eBay or contact the Glass Casters Union through its MySpace Page.

Trust us, your tree will thank you for it.
