The last we heard about the forthcoming Brian Wilson biopic, the film was still in the planning stages, but now things look to be moving forward as some of movie's details have been confirmed.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the flick is called Love & Mercy. It will be directed by Bill Pohlad, who has worked as a producer on films like Brokeback Mountain and The Tree of Life. The lead role will be played by Paul Dano, who you may recognize from Looper, Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood.

Excitingly, How to Destroy Angels member Atticus Ross is in talks to pen the score. He will reportedly work on sound design in addition to writing the soundtrack. Ross previously teamed up with Trent Reznor for scores like The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

The film will chronicle Wilson's mental health struggles and his relationship with his wife, the rights for which Pohlad has secured. The story will apparently cover several decades of Wilson's life, with two different actors set to play the Beach Boys star. Dano will play the younger Wilson, while the older Wilson has yet to be cast.

The script was penned by Oren Moverman (I'm Not There). Work is slated to begin in early summer.
