Published Dec 07, 2012Next year marks the 20th anniversary of alternative pop crew the Breeders' landmark Last Splash album, and the band have announced that they'll offer up a deluxe edition of the set in 2013.
The band's label 4AD, who issued the LP back in 1993, announced the news via a quickie press release, which notes that the package will be titled LSXX and arrive sometime in April. Details on the reissue have yet to be delivered, but we predict the set could feature era-appropriate B-sides like the crunchy, lo-fi "Cro-Aloha," an alternate version "Aloha" that skimps on that soul-swelling intro for some punky beats, the cover of Hank Williams' "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You)" off the "Divine Hammer" single, or perhaps even 1994's Head to Toe EP.
On top of the redux LP, the Last Splash lineup of the band will be playing the album in full on the festival circuit. According to the press release, guitarists Kim and Kelley Deal got together with bassist Josephine Wiggs and drummer Jim Macpherson in November to start rehearsals. One performance has already been confirmed in 2013, a Deerhunter-curated edition of All Tomorrow's Parties in Camber Sands, UK, in June.
