Published Sep 03, 2015Soft-spoken prairie-based singer-songwriter Brady Enslen is set to release his latest LP Beautiful things next week, but Exclaim! is giving you a chance to hear it in its entirety before it hits shelves.
There's an Americana-tinged streak that runs through the new set of songs, not unlike that popularized by iconic alt-country acts like Josh Rouse and Whiskeytown. The subject matter, though, comes straight from the heart of Enslen's own experience growing up in the Canadian prairies. Inspired by "love and innocence, trains, geography, and whiskey," the songs serve as an excellent introduction his unique, twangy take on folk music.
From the gentle, rolling "Drive" to the lush vocal harmonies and strings on the title track to the saloon-friendly blues of "No Whiskey for Mama" and finally, the sweeping, melancholic closer "Drags of Sunset," Enslen delivers a rich collection of heartfelt songs about the land of wheat and whiskey.
Beautiful Things arrives on September 11, but you can scroll past Enslen's upcoming live shows to give it an early listen right now in the player below.
