Boris Collaborator Ai Aso to Deliver 'Lone' LP for Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ

Following a five-year gap in releases, Japanese psych-pop experimenter and Boris collaborator Ai Aso has announced she's teaming up with Stephen O'Malley's Editions Mego side-label Ideologic Organ to deliver her next set, Lone.

The seven-song live offering arrives March 31, and as that album title suggests, it finds Aso performing vocals, keyboards and guitar solo. The record, which follows her 2009 LP Aida, is her first for Ideologic Organ and was recorded by Takashi Itoga at Tokyo's Daikanyama UNIT in November 2012.

Aso's work is described in a press release as having a "whisper-thin acid folk quality," while also recalling avant garde UK post-industrial outfit Coil. You can stream the gentle lilt of keyboard-driven Lone track "Date" down below, where you'll also find the album's tracklisting info. As you may notice, many of the tracks that Aso delivers are from past releases.

While this concert set was performed solo, she's previously collaborated with members of Japanese neo-psych icons White Heaven and Boris, and shared concert bills with Sunn O))), Boris, Masaki Batoh (Ghost), Touri Kudoh, Kim Doo Soo, Mark Fry, Simon Finn and more.
