Bonnaroo Cancels 2021 Edition Due to "Waterlogged" Festival Grounds

"Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain over the past 24 hours, and we have run out of options to try to make the event happen safely"

After calling off its 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival has now been forced to cancel its 2021 edition days before it was set to take place.

This afternoon, organizers explained in a statement that heavy rainfall has affected both the festival grounds and camping areas.

"While this weekend's weather looks outstanding, currently Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are flooded to the point that we are unable to drive in or park vehicles safely," the statement reads.

"We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain over the past 24 hours, and we have run out of options to try to make the event happen safely and in a way that lives up to the Bonnaroo experience."

Organizers conclude, "Please find ways to safely gather with your Bonnaroo community and continue to radiate positivity during this disappointing time. WE WILL SEE YOU ON THE FARM IN JUNE 2022! All tickets purchased through Front Gate Tickets will be refunded in as little as 30 days to the original method of payment."

Bonnaroo 2021 — which would have marked the festival's 20th edition — was set to feature Megan Thee Stallion, Foo Fighters, Tame Impala, Run the Jewels, Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, Primus, Deftones, My Morning Jacket, Phoebe Bridgers, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Lana Del Rey, Leon Bridges, deadmau5, Lil Baby, and Tyler, the Creator, among many others.

Further cancellation info can be found through Bonnaroo's official website.
