Bone Gnawer

Feast of Flesh

BY Denise FalzonPublished Jul 20, 2009

Describing themselves as "gore-and-horror death metal," Bone Gnawer mix traditional Cannibal Corpse-esque Floridian death metal with melodic Swedish death in a particularly brutal way. A super-group of underground extreme musicians, the band are comprised of vocalist Kam Lee (Massacre, ex-Denial Fiend, ex-Mantas/Death), guitarist Ronnie Bjornstrom (Ribspreader, Hate Ammo), bassist Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Demiurg, Ribspreader) and drummer Morgan Lie (Naglfar). Feast of Flesh features all of the essentials expected from the cannibalistic band: death growls, mind-blowing fast and heavy riffs, and intensely vigorous drumming. Notably vicious tracks include the aptly titled "Cannibal Cook-Out" and "Defleshed And Skinned," which features guest vocals from horror veteran Killjoy of Necrophagia. Other tunes, such as "Hammer To The Skull" and "Hatchet Face," make Feast of Flesh ideal for fans of early Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath. With disgustingly brutal music and vocals, horrific lyrical themes and grotesque album artwork, these guys are like The Devil's Rejects of metal, but in a good way.
