Bodeans

Resolution

So when exactly did the BoDeans start to sound so much like Bon Jovi? Although the first song has some decent hooks to it — even if the lyrics sound like something a high school band would come up with — "If It Makes You” sounds like an unreleased Bon Jovi classic waiting for the fans upfront to spark their lighters to. And, it doesn’t get much better from there. Their first new album since 1996’s Blend, Resolution finds the band, long regarded as one of the premier roots rock bands in the U.S., calling in from a very high tech studio down south. Unlike earlier albums, this comes across like half-written songs dolled up with all the studio gloss that money can buy. Even after numerous listens, this just doesn’t cut it. It’s too bad because it could have been so much more.
