Bobby Draino / Xophie Xweetland

'Chrome Split' (album stream)

Vancouver tape label 1080p is quickly shaping up to be one of the city's busiest purveys of electronic-leaning cassettes, and now the imprint has shared its latest release: a split between local beatmakers Bobby Draino and Xophie Xweetland. Chrome Split is out on September 3, and it's available to stream ahead of time.

The tape features seven tracks: three from Xweetland, three from Draino, and one collaborative cut. Xweetland's side is tense and urgent, with ambient techno tracks marked by dark atmospheres and tightly wound beats. Draino's songs, on the other hand, are brighter yet more abrasive, with buried vocal samples and chaotically in-your-face rhythms.

Chrome Split is streaming below and can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp.
