Bob Dylan

"Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread" / "Tupelo" (John Lee Hooker cover)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 23, 2014

Bob Dylan is dusting off his Basement Tapes for an expanded release, but before it lands November 4 via Sony/Legacy, you can catch an early attempt at "Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread."

The Bootleg Series exclusive is quick and cyclical, hanging onto soused and swervy organ tones, loose piano rambling and a California-seeking set of lyrics delivered by Bob and the Band. It all ends rather quickly, and plays a little under cooked, but you can check out the embryonic snippet down below.

UPDATE: Also, via Stereogum, you can listen to Dylan's cover of John Lee Hooker's "Tupelo" below. This track appears on The Basement Tapes as well.
