Blur bassist and former coke fiend turned cheese farmer Alex James is set to star in a new documentary titled Cocaine Diaries: Alex James in Colombia. The BBC America film follows James who "once bragged that he spent over a million pounds on cocaine at the height of his addiction" to the source of his former addiction, Colombia, which now accounts for 62 percent of the worlds cocaine production and names the drug as the countrys top export, the BBC tells us.
According to the press release, James was invited by the countrys president, Alvaro Uribe, to "better understand the origins and human cost of cocaine... from riding shotgun with a drug kingpin's assassin to venturing deep into the rainforest to watch coca leaves being harvested and turned into narcotics."
In the release, James says, "It's a long way from a cheeky line at a dinner party. It's terrifying."
