Blur 'Travel to Hong Kong' in New Comic Book

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 9, 2015

Earlier this spring, Blur delivered their first new album since 2003 with the arrival of The Magic Whip. It was recorded in a studio in Hong Kong, and while the band weren't too pleased with the commute or the extremely hot weather during the recording process, the city has nevertheless served as the inspiration behind their latest endeavour — a comic book.

Aptly titled Travel to Hong Kong with Blur, the comic book is a collaboration with artist Kongkee of Penguin Lab, inspired by the music of The Magic Whip. The 24-page book chronicles the band as they embark on a "futuristic adventure" in the titular city.

The comic will be available at the band's web store and at their live shows as of June 12. Watch a video with Kongkee below, in which he explains how Hong Kong inspired both The Magic Whip and the new illustrated project.
