For festival-going folk fans on a budget, it doesn't get much better than the Bloor Ossington Folk Festival. The free annual event is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, and it has announced the initial lineup for this latest edition.

The event runs from September 18 to 20 at Christie Pits Park and in the surrounding area. The first day will feature shows at four Bloor Street venues: Julie Doiron will be at Menalon Restaurant (with Jon Mckiel and Copilots), Michael Feuerstack will be at Saving Gigi (with Moonsocket and Chris Ladd), Menalon will be at Studio 835 (with JOYFULTALK), and Lullabye Arkestra will be at Bassline Music Bar (with Soupcans and the Pucumber Sasssquash Family Band).

On September 19 and 20, the festival will take over Christie Pits Park and will feature performances from Absolutely Free, Cousins, Stanley Brinks & Freschard, Crosss, Lindy Vopnfjörd, Weird Lines, Sebastian Brown and Walrus. More acts will be announced in the weeks and months leading up to the festival.

Beyond that, the event will include film screenings, local food, crafts and activities for kids. Learn more about the Bloor Ossington Folk Festival right here.
