While buzz around upcoming teen drama flick Palo Alto may be centred on actor James Franco's real-life hook-up attempt, the unveiling of the movie trailer earlier this week revealed some music news too, in that Blood Orange (a.k.a. Dev Hynes) is behind the soundtrack.

The trailer, which you'll find below, features a few sneak peeks at what to expect from the score, composed by Hynes and director/writer Gia Coppola. One section unveils a skeletal shake of marimba-style tones, while later in the trailer we hear Hynes singing softly atop a spacious and velvet-smooth R&B arrangement. You can see the trailer down below.

Hynes himself has been relatively mum about the project, though he did post the trailer on his Tumblr page. In response to a fan question on Twitter regarding when we can expect to hear more of the score, Hynes responded, "Soundtrack & score will be out close to movie release."

Details on the release are still pending, while Palo Alto hits screens May 9.

Hynes' Palo Alto score follows his celebrated 2013 solo set, Cupid Deluxe.
