Blood and Glass

'Museum With No Walls' (album stream)

Blood and Glass are set to unleash their debut album Museum With No Walls next week, but you can hear it before it hits shelves right here on Exclaim.ca.

Based in Montreal, the duo consists of Lisa (Creature, Ariane Moffatt) and Morgan Moore (Thus Owls, Forêt), who feed off of each other's eccentricity. Blending baroque-tinged pop with electro-rock undercurrents, the pair have crafted a unique sound that has been described as a missing link between Grimes and Tom Waits.

Both live and on the new record, the Moores have collaborated with an impressive roster of local musicians like Robbie Kuster, Patrick Watson, Mélanie Bélair, Brad Barr, Simon & Erika Angell (Thus Owls) and Jocelyn Veilleux.

Described by a recent press release as a "carnavalesque, imaginative world of sonic storytelling," Museum With No Walls delivers a range of sounds and influences. From the dark, drum machine-led "Floating Nora" to the saccharine vocals on "Inferno" to the three-part saga of "Broken Arrow" and sweet-sounding album closer "Birdy," the entire album is saturated with dramatic performance.

In what promises to be a sight to see live, the band will be playing an album release show on October 18 in their hometown of Montreal at La Sala Rossa. The record itself arrives on October 21, but you can join Blood and Glass on their artsy, experimental sonic journey right now by giving Museum With No Walls a listen below.
