Blink-182's Collaborative Track with Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert Won't Be on Their New Album

Travis Barker says the song 100% exists but will actually be on a new EP instead

Blink-182 are busy getting ready to give us a new album, but it appears previously teased — and very not pop punk — guest stars Pharrell Williams and Lil Uzi Vert won't actually make it onto the record. Apparently, that genre crossover will be saved for a new Blink-182 EP instead.

The news comes via Blink drummer Travis Barker, who confirmed in a new interview that the band indeed recorded a new song with rapper Lil Uzi Vert and N.E.R.D.'s Pharrell and Chad Hugo. However, he said the plan is for the band to release an as-yet-undetailed new EP later this year, and that's where the collaborative track will likely find its home.

Speaking with Kerwin Frost, Barker said the following of Blink-182's future plans for the EP and collab:

It's not gonna come out on the album — it's gonna come out probably on the EP that comes later this year. But Blink just did a song with Uzi, that's the most mind-blowing thing ever — with Pharrell.

So you have these things now where like, where Uzi is out at Pharrell's studio and he's like, "Yo I just did this song with Blink," so Uzi is like "I gotta get on that." So it's almost coming full circle, but maybe it's not coming full circle in rock — it's actually affecting a whole other genre of music.

At this point, it should come as no real surprise that Blink are stepping out of their pop-punk comfort zone. After all, they are going on tour with Lil Wayne, and Barker just released a new EP called Meet the Drummers with West Coast rap artist 03 Greedo.

So far, Blink have given us three new tracks: "Happy Days," "Generational Divide" and "Blame It on My Youth." But at this point, it's unclear if these will all appear on the band's as-yet-untitled new album or perhaps this separate EP that Barker is teasing.

For now, you can check out the segment with Barker about the new EP possibility below.
