Blink-182

"Wildfire"

The last we heard from California mall punks Blink-182, the trio were channeling some Underoath vibes on a weird metalcore experiment. Now, for better or worse, they're back in their wheelhouse with the new song "Wildfires."

We've been subjected to so many Blink-182 songs in the last two years that they're all starting to blend together. "Wildfires" offers all of the familiar elements — simple guitar playing makes way for hammer-ons and octave chords while Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba trade lyrics about some generic form of rebellion.

It's getting pretty damn formulaic at this point, but having said that "Wildfires" is one of the better executions of the formula. It would've been right at home on the original California, but instead it'll arrive on the deluxe edition, due out on May 19 via BMG
