The Roots leader calls it "a feelgood record"

Black Thought is fresh off the release of Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane and Abel, and when it comes to new material, he has no plans to slow down. In a new interview, the Roots leader was asked about a slate of potential projects — including an album with Danger Mouse.

In conversation on HOT 97's Ebro in the Morning, Black Thought pointed to the existence of Dangerous Thoughts, a full-length the producer and himself first mapped out "maybe 13 or 14 years ago."

Clarifying that the "full-on album" would not be a part of the Streams of Thought series of releases, Black Thought called Dangerous Thoughts "a feelgood record... a record for people who got into hip-hop and who evolved at the same period of time that we did," as well as "a return to hip-hop" for Danger Mouse.

Thought also explained how work on his Streams of Thought series is different from that towards a new Roots album. While that band's most recent studio album remains 2014's ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, they had been in the studio at work on a new effort tentatively titled Endgame as recently as 2016.

Danger Mouse, meanwhile, worked with Karen O for last year's Lux Prima, and has produced for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Parquet Courts, Portugal. The Man, Michael Kiwanuka and Run the Jewels in recent years.

In 2015, Danger Mouse executive produced A$AP Rocky's At.Long.Last.ASAP, while his most recent hip-hop project as a primary artist remains 2005's MF DOOM team-up The Mouse & The Mask, as DANGERDOOM.

You can hear Black Thought discuss the projects in the player below, beginning at around the 10-minute mark. Recently, he appeared on a new album from Public Enemy.
