Black Mountain Added As "Special Guest" To New Pornographers' Stanley Park Singing Exhibition

In the concert world, "special guests” are rarely special. In fact, this is usually code for some crappy local band you could care less about. It’s because of this that when the New Pornographers used the term with their upcoming Stanley Park Singing Exhibition, we didn’t have our hopes up. Well, it turns out we should have. The Canuck power poppers have announced that their special guest at Vancouver’s two-day music fest will be none other than fellow Vancouverites Black Mountain.

Along with bands such as Destroyer, Neko Case, Deerhoof and the New Pornographers, Canada’s retro rock kings will bring their noise to Stanley Park Singing Exhibition, which runs from August 31 to September 1. And it seems the New Pornographers are pretty pumped about it.

"We're enthused that they have agreed to take part of the show," festival organizers New Pornographers said via their newsletter. "And [we] think that they fill out a pretty incredible line-up of bands."

Tickets for the event, which as we previously reported will be donating proceeds to charity, are still up for grabs. You can get your paws on some discounted tickets here, and once those sell out, you can buy regularly priced tickets here.

Now here is Stanley Park Singing Exhibition's new, revised and even more awesome line-up:

August 31
Neko Case
Destroyer
Andrew Bird
Deerhoof
Evaporators

September 1
The New Pornographers
Black Mountain
Stevie Jackson of Belle and Sebastian
1990s
