Black Moon

Total Eclipse

While the Boot Camp Clik never crossed over to the mainstream success of Wu-Tang, the crew built up a loyal hardcore following of adherents and given crew focal group Black Moon’s approach, they are acutely aware of this. With lead MC Buckshot proudly stating "stay real / never change” on opening knockout salvo "Stay Real,” he’s playing directly to his constituency and not the least bit concerned how played out some may contend the phrase is. True to Buckshot’s word, Black Moon’s resolutely parochial outlook means that the themes of urban Darwinism, inferior MCs and hard-earned wisdom don’t exactly represent a quantum leap from what they’ve always offered. However, few do it so well. Buckshot’s hungry conversational flow is so intense you can almost visualise him sneering in the mic booth, sounding way more hungry and passionate then he did on the disappointing sophomore effort War Zone. With DJ Evil Dee and the Beatminerz crew providing relentlessly exceptional crunchy production, it’s not hard for Buckshot and 5ft to get motivated, making Total Eclipse another strong indication that the Boot Camp Clik is definitely back on track.
