Black Keys Want You To "Kill Nerds B4 They Kill You"
With the increasing overload of new music out there, making a new release stand out from the pack can be rather challenging, leading many bands to adopt some rather creative promotional tools. In the case of Black Keys and their upcoming Danger Mouse-produced album, Attack & Release, the blues-styled duo have launched their own online shoot ’em up video game, letting you get excited about new sounds with blasts of violent gunfire.

On the band’s website, you’ll now find a laser gun and crosshairs, along with a message "Kill Nerds B4 They Kill You.” Click start, and you’ll be prompted to shoot the hell out of helmet-clad baddies, who actually look a bit like Daft Punk. (Are Black Keys hinting that they think Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Man are nerds?)

During the game, periodic flashes of band members Daniel Auerbach and Patrick Carne will appear, awarding you bonus points if you get them between your crosshairs and fire. Yeah, it’s a bit simple, but it sure beats the hell out of solitaire.

Black Keys’ Attack & Release hits shops April 1. The band are currently crossing North America with recently signed Matador artist Jay Reatard. Here are the dates:
