The Black Keys vs. Big Boi The Brothers of Chico Dusty

The Black Keys vs. Big Boi The Brothers of Chico Dusty
Time will tell if this mixtape will become as legendary as Danger Mouse's Jay-Z and the Beatles mash-up The Grey Album, but The Brothers of Chico Dusty does combine the best parts of two of our favourite albums this year. As you probably guessed, producer Wick-It The Instigator has wrapped the blues rock melodies of the Black Keys' Brothers record with Big Boi's verses on Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, and the results are surprisingly awesome.

Some of the highlights on the eight-song set include the sped-up soul licks backing Big Boi's fast-paced flow on "Go Get Tangerine" and the gear-grinding Middle Eastern boom bap of "Afraid of the General." "Everlasting Shine Blockaz" manages to throw a sample from '70s flick The Warriors into the mix as well. Unless a legitimate collaboration comes down the pipeline, this could be the only time you get a taste of this Akron-Atlanta connection.
