Published Feb 22, 2011Okay, so MTV might get them mixed up with the Black Eyed Peas, but Ohio blues rockers the Black Keys have earned a devoted following over the past decade. The band's Canuck fans will be excited to learn that the duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have announced a nine-date Canadian tour.
The outing lasts from late June until mid-July, kicking off at Deer Lake Park just outside of Vancouver. From there, they will head east, playing shows in the Prairies, Ontario and Quebec, before wrapping up in London, ON on July 12.
The Black Keys have a special fondness for our country, as a press release confirms, "Canada is the first territory in the world to deliver the band a platinum record." They're also currently up for three international awards at the Indies next month, which is part of Canadian Music Week in Toronto.
This tour will be in support of the Black Keys' most recent LP, 2010's Brothers. Along the way, the band will be supported by Kentucky rockers Cage the Elephant.
